Five years ago, Govenda was formed because we believed that board governance tools should be accessible to everyone. At the time, companies had limited choices that included board portals that were expensive, required extensive training for both admins and board members, AND necessitated the need for IT resources for implementation and afterwards. We were confident that by providing technology in a new, updated way and incorporating a strong focus on simplicity, we could change the board portal landscape. 2016 proved that we have done just that.
Govenda experienced record growth in 2016 and doubled its number of users, thereby doubling the feedback which we use to continuously improve our platform. We completed several major enhancements to the Govenda platform including approvals and e-signature, workflow for Unanimous Written Consent, expanded customization options for user profiles that allow for greater reporting capability, and implementation of even greater security features for our mobile apps.
Here are a few things you can expect from Govenda next:
Presentation Mode – We want to give our customers tools to run better meetings in addition to quick and easy access to board materials. We’ve received so many requests for meeting chairs to have the option of guiding board members through materials and that will be a reality in Govenda.
Enhanced Board Book Creation – We already have one-page board book creation that incorporates drag and drop functionality, easy document replacement, and multiple file-type upload. But as technology changes, so can Govenda. A major board book project is underway and you will soon see a faster, smoother, more customizable agenda!
Minute Taking – Providing the ability to take minutes right in the Govenda platform based on the agenda is a hot request and something we believe will benefit EVERY board. Reducing time on administration has always been a key goal for Govenda, and embedded minute taking functionality will aid in furthering that goal.
There is lots more on the roadmap, and we can’t tell you everything we are going to do just yet. Some things should stay secret! But I hope this list gets you excited, and I look forward to serving our current customers and many new customers in the upcoming year.
